Relief pool management that keeps itself up to date
Each crew member updates their own availability between rotations. Your relief list is current without a single phone call, so finding cover takes minutes.
Relief lists are always out of date
Hours on the phone
When someone signs off at short notice, the crewing office calls through the list to find out who is home, available and willing.
Availability changes daily
A spreadsheet relief list is out of date the day it is made. People take other jobs, extend trips or go on courses.
Certificates hide in the details
Even when someone is available, a lapsed course can rule them out, and you only find out after the call.
How relief pools work in Marvatis
Self-updated availability
Crew members set their own availability between rotations, so the pool always shows who is home and when.
Filter on what matters
Search the pool on rank, vessel type, certificates and availability in one go.
Certificates included
Every person in the pool shows certificate status, with warnings before anything expires.
Hired crew join automatically
Candidates you hire move into the pool with their documents in place, ready for the next rotation.
Private to your company
Your pool is visible only to your company. Crew can still use their own profile to apply elsewhere.
What you see for each person in the pool
A relief pool is only useful if it answers the questions you ask when a vessel needs cover:
| Category | Covers | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | Home from date, on board until date, or available now | Set by the crew member |
| Rank and experience | Rank, vessel types and recent vessels | From profile and CV |
| Certificates | Valid, expiring or missing for the planned sign-on | Checked automatically |
| Contact history | Messages and notes from the crewing team | Kept on the profile |
From phone rounds to a live view of your crew
Most shipping companies rely on a group of trusted relief crew who come back rotation after rotation. Keeping track of when each of them is home, what they are certified for and whether they are free is one of the most time-consuming parts of crewing.
Marvatis turns that list into a live view. Because crew members update their own availability and documents, the crewing office starts each search with current information. When a 2nd Engineer is needed for a vessel from 17 November, you filter on rank, vessel type and date, and see who fits before you pick up the phone.
Built by people from the industry. Marvatis is founded by Edgar Eidsheim, Master Mariner, former Chief Officer and senior DP Operator, together with Asgeir Sognefest, MSc in informatics specialising in AI.
